Xavi urges Bayern Munich’s “maestro” to join Barcelona: “You are one of the best players in the world”

In a crucial press conference, FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the club’s defensive axis position. With the departure of powerhouse Sergio Busquets imminent, Xavi has emphasized the imperative of securing a world-class defensive midfielder for next season.

Among the coveted prospects, one name stands out in Xavi’s mind: Joshua Kimmich

The Catalan coach revealed his admiration for Kimmich, and praised the German maestro, praising him as one of the best players in his position. “It seems to me that Kimmich is a great player, one of the best players in the world in his position,” he said.

While Xavi’s public acknowledgment of his interest in Kimmich is an unprecedented move, it is indicative of Barcelona’s growing fascination with the versatile midfielder. And he concluded his remarks: “There is nothing else I can add.” Xavi left the sports administration the task of chasing after the Bayern Munich star.

However, it is important to note that Xavi’s previous comments about Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder, were rejected by his club.

To clarify his intentions, the Barcelona coach expressed his unwillingness to undermine or disrespect any team, stressing that his statements were just a response to a question from a journalist. Xavi reiterated his unique objective of identifying and securing an outstanding defensive midfielder capable of filling the void left by Busquets’ departure.

Speaking in front of the media, Xavi confirmed that acquiring a first-class midfielder takes precedence in the transfer agenda for FC Barcelona.

With their captain Sergio Busquets about to exit, the Catalan coach acknowledged the need to find a player from ASPE to maintain the team’s competitive advantage. “We need a top-level defensive midfielder for next season. Bossi is a key player, but if the captain leaves, we have to replace him in the best possible way.”
